JVC (Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.), a leading innovator in the field of audiovisual technology, is proud to introduce the new LT-40DS7 and LT-37/32/26DR7 DynaPix HD widescreen LCD IDTVs that guarantees optimum visual entertainment thanks to a wealth of beneficial features.

IDTV (Integrated Digital Television) means that these innovative models are designed to receive digital broadcasting signals and what's more, the "HD ready" logo will inform users that these IDTVs are fully capable of processing and displaying high-definition signals. Yet another welcome feature is Integrated D.I.S.T., which represents the newest generation of JVC's renowned D.I.S.T. picture-enhancement technology. This evolutionary technology now has a single processor that controls video output from input through both core and supporting components to ensure outstanding picture quality at much greater processing speed. It can also be truly stated that audio characteristics complement picture performance beautifully as the LT-40DS7 features MaxxBass^® that greatly enhance bass effects, and all models are equipped with Oblique Cone speakers that deliver robust sound quality. Convenient connectability can be enjoyed too, as there are component and PC inputs as well as an HDMI^TM connector with HDCP available.

PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS

� Integrated D.I.S.T. Structure

The LT-40DS7 and LT-37/32/ 26DR7 DynaPix HD models are powered by Integrated D.I.S.T (digital image scaling technology), which is now equipped with a single processor that controls video output from input through both core and supporting components. This helps processing speed, making Integrated D.I.S.T ideally suited for today's large-screen displays.

Integrated D.I.S.T. Core Components - Noise Reduction, I-P Converter and Formatter

Core components of Integrated D.I.S.T include the DynaPix HD N/R (Noise Reduction) System, Motion Adaptive I-P Converter, and Formatter.

• DynaPix HD N/R (Noise Reduction) System: A multitude of noise reduction technologies such as a new algorithm that performs optimal correction without degrading original picture quality by detecting the type of noise �digital/analogue broadcasting, DVD content, or HD signals �and its location, can be found within the DynaPix HD N/R System. The 3D N/R andMPEG N/R consist of 3 separate noise reduction technologies: 1) Signal Noise Reduction works to detect picture noise in real-time and controls the amount of noise reduction as required; 2) Block Noise Suppressor automatically detects and removes block noise in MPEG data; and 3) Logical Noise Eliminator reduces "mosquito" noise that can generate on the upper frequency range in MPEG data. Another noise reduction element is the 3D Y/C Separator that reduces cross colour and dot interference remaining in the digital broadcasting or component signal.

   

• In addition to simple interlace-to-progressive signal conversion, Motion Adaptive I-P Converter significantly reduces rough, jagged lines even in images with complicated curved lines such as those with lots of movement.

   

• After the I-P conversion process, picture information is then interpolated with the Formatter relative to the number of pixels that the display panel has to offer.

   

Integrated D.I.S.T. Supporting Components

After the signal passes through the core components, it is further processed by the supporting components to ensure optimum control of contour, colour and contrast for excellent picture quality.

  • Super DigiPure works with D.I.S.T. and adjusts contour details to better match the image. A process called in-band shoot/supplementary shoot-less and an original algorithm finely tunes the image. As a result, fast moving-images have clear edges, slow motion images are natural yet sharp, and still pictures are crisp and detailed.

     

  • •Based on histogram information compiled every second for 50 frames, Dynamic Picture Management performs complex calculations for each frame in real-time to ensure optimum brightness, gradations, and colour intensity. To further optimise image quality, this feature works simultaneously with Gamma Curve Control to give the picture an added three-dimensional presence.
• Colour Management is designed to enhance colours of the image, reproducing them as close as possible to the original source. Colour Management accurately adjusts specific points in the colour spectrum to recreate red, blue, green, yellow, and skin tones more naturally and vibrantly.

   

Adjustment point 1 (Red):Tones down blue to make red more vivid.

Adjustment point 2 (Yellow):Tones down green for a more natural yellow.

Adjustment point 3 (Green):Tones down yellow to make green more striking.

Adjustment point 4 (Blue):Tones down the green to make blue clearer.

Adjustment point 5 (Skin tone): Recreates more natural and healthy skin tone.

• To increase contrast in both bright and dark scenes, Dynamic Black Level Control is as sensitive as the human eye in perceiving the appropriate amount of ambient light. By controlling black levels, Dynamic Black Level Control improves overall image gradation by adding ample contrast.

   

• Working in real time with Dynamic Picture Management, Gamma Curve Control regulates image brightness by recreating natural-looking contrast to add extra depth and presence when

• IC with Dedicated CPU for Dynamic Processing: A new 32-bit processor on DynaPix HD models performs at twice the speed of the previous CPU and integrates all processing into a single chip. And in preparation of the transition to HD sources including packaged media and broadcasting, this new chip is also capable of processing up to full HD (1920 x 1080) video signals. For both core and supporting components, DynaPix HD processes D.I.S.T. technology on a powerful chip to ensure finer grayscaling and contrast adjustment, recreating a far more vivid picture ideally suited to today's larger display sizes.

MaxxBass® and Parametric Equalizer

Featured on the LT-40DS7, MaxxBass^® creates the sensation of low frequencies by generating a series of harmonics designed to simulate the auditory experience. As a result, vastly improved bass that could not be reproduced by conventional speakers can now be heard and enjoyed. In addition to MaxxBass^®, a parametric equalizer boosts the bass frequency while the oscilloscope waveform has flat-sound characteristics for more realistic bass reproduction, especially for vocals. Combining these features with MaxxBass^® greatly enhances bass effects.

Oblique Cone Speakers

The DynaPix LCD IDTVs are equipped with two Oblique Cone speakers for powerful sound reproduction. These unique Oblique Cone speakers situated on the bottom of the TV deliver sound upwards from their off-centred voice coil to reduce distortion and optimise sound quality for anyone sitting in front of the TV.

IDTV (Integrated Digital TV)

To prepare for the transition to digital broadcasting, JVC offers impressive IDTV models such as the LT-40DS7 and LT-37/32/26DR7 that are capable of receiving digital signals. These IDTV models also feature 7-day EPG, digital Teletext, and are equipped with a common interface.

"HD ready" TV

All of these models meet the "HD ready" criteria specified by EICTA, which are: 1) Minimum native resolution of the display device shall be 720 physical lines, in wide aspect ratio; 2) The display device must be equipped with analogue YPBPR, and DVI or HDMI^TM (supporting HDCP content protection) inputs to accept the HD signal; and 3) HD-capable inputs must be compatible with 720p 50/60Hz and 1080i 50/60Hz HD video formats.

HDMI Inputs

These DynaPix LCD IDTVs feature HDMI^TM inputs with HDCP that allow for noise free, unaltered, and uncompressed transmission of digital content from a compatible device with HDMI or DVI output*. The HDMI inputs are capable of receiving source signals up to HD 1080i (HD 1125i) 50/60Hz and 720p (750p) 60Hz. For extra convenience, the LT-40DS7 model comes equipped with two HDMI inputs.
